Labour of Love: Embroidering Palestinian History

Labour of Love will take visitors on a journey of how Palestinian folk fashion serves as a catalyst for examining Palestinian social history, specifically through the art of tatreez embroidery.
The exhibition unravels the symbols of the embroidered Palestinian dress (thobe), exploring tatreez through the lenses of gender, labour, commodity, and class throughout different historic periods.
The exhibition also traces the shift of tatreez from personal practice, made with love, to a national symbol, to a product circulating in the global marketplace. The exhibition is curated by the Palestinian Museum and Dr. Baha Jubeh, Senior Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Qatar Museums, and draws on the collections of Qatar Museums and the Palestinian Museum.
