Exclusive Keynote: 40 mins

Frank Stephenson: Creative Director, Frank Stephenson Design

Frank Stephenson has designed everything from small hatchbacks to SUVs, but it is his work with McLaren which he is best known for. During a 9-year long tenure as design director at the supercar brand, Stephenson oversaw the P1, 675LT and 720s among other models. Since founding his own studio, Stephenson has underlined his position as one of the most influential figures in car design with an online channel that has amassed millions of views.

Panel Discussions:

Re-thinking Luxury: 1hr

How will changing consumer desires and new technology shape the future of luxury car design? The definition of luxury is changing with traditional materials under question, and new technology such as autonomous driving offering a first-class plane lounge experience.  What then, will the future of luxury look like and how will designers respond?

The future of Supercars: 1hr

Electrification has changed the nature of the production car, what will it do for the supercar? Will the move to EV prompt new forms and aesthetics in the way that some legendary performance brands are experimenting with historic typologies like the shooting brake. There is also the question of powertrain – with the visceral thrills of engine noise set to disappear, designers will need to look to alternative means to provide excitement beyond the sheer velocity. And will ICE-powered supercars still have a place?

A vehicle? A revolution? … Almost. Marcello Gandini (b 1938. Turin, Italy) is one of the world’s most influential automotive designers. He has designed the automobiles that defined the late 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, even the 1990s.
